Time Markers

¡Bienvenidos el año 8!

How did you get on last week with the present tense? This tense is super important and definitely gets a lot easier the more you practice! Remember to email your Spanish teacher or us at mflwordpress@clf.uk with any work you do from the blog; we’d love to see it! And don’t forget to check in with the Y8 Learning Menu (below) for fun and creative ideas to keep your Spanish fresh!

Some amazing examples of just a few of the wonderful pieces of work you submitted last week :).

Time Markers

So this week we’re going to be looking at time markers. These are really important words which tell us when something happened. They are key when we are reading, writing, speaking or listening to Spanish. They can also be extremely important in telling us whether something is happening now, happened in the past or will happen in the future.

Check out the list of time phrases below. Do you notice any patterns? For example, when do you spot pasado/a being part of the time phrase? When do you spot próximo/a?

Once you have had a look at the time phrases, have a go at the worksheet below. You will only need to use the “presente” column to help you :).

Don’t forget to save your work/screenshot/take a photo and send to your Spanish teacher or mflwordpress@clf.uk. Make sure you have checked your answers using the answer sheet too :).

Culture Corner

This week we are going to have a little look at tapas! Perhaps you may also try making some of your own for your family! ¡Qué rico!

A tapa is an appetizer or snack in Spanish cuisine and translates to small portion. Tapas may be cold or hot and is a bit part of Spanish culture. It is served in thousands of bars and restaurants across Spain. You will often see people sitting down to eat tapas late into the evening as in Spain it is normal to eat your evening meal at around 9pm! Tapas is designed to encourage conversation, because people are not so focused upon eating an entire meal which is set in front of them :).

Why not have a go yourself at a classic Spanish tapas dish; Patatas bravas!? It’s simple and very tasty. Perhaps you could make some for your family or friends? Be sure to send us a pic! https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/patatas-bravas-0

Vale chicos y chicas… We hope you’ve enjoyed today’s lesson 🙂
